Who runs this site

ConvertHub is published by ConvertHub Editorial, founded in 2026. ConvertHub is written and maintained by a small independent editorial team with backgrounds in technical writing, software engineering, and document workflows. We started the site after repeatedly running into two problems: unit converters that gave a bare number with no context, and file converters that demanded an account, a subscription, or a sketchy browser extension just to turn a Word file into a PDF. Every converter and guide on this site is drafted, checked against primary unit definitions, and edited by a person on this team — we do not auto-publish machine-generated pages without review.

We are not a large media company and we do not pretend to be. We are upfront that this is a small, independent site: no editorial board, no press office, just a working team that reads support email, fixes bugs, and rewrites pages when a unit definition or a converter engine changes. If something on the site is wrong, a real person — not a support queue in another country — will read your message and fix it.

The problem we set out to solve

Search for almost any unit conversion and you will find hundreds of near-identical calculator pages: a single input box, an ad above it, and no explanation of where the number came from, whether it is exact or rounded, or when the two units actually differ (a US gallon is not an imperial gallon; a US cup is not a metric cup; "350 degrees" means very different things in Fahrenheit and Celsius). That approach is fast to build and cheap to scale, but it leaves the reader with a number and no confidence in it.

The same is true for file conversion. Word-to-PDF and PDF-to-Word tools online are frequently bundled with aggressive upsells, forced account creation, or vague retention policies that never say what happens to your document after you upload it. We built ConvertHub to fix both problems on one site: converters that show their work, and file tools that are honest about what they do with your files and how long they keep them (the answer, for both, is: not long — see the privacy section below).

How our tools actually work

Unit converters run in your browser

Calculations on /convert/* pages run entirely client-side, in JavaScript, on the device you are using right now. The number you type is never transmitted to our servers, logged, or stored — there is nothing to send, because the arithmetic happens locally. Each page targets one specific conversion direction (for example centimeters to inches, not a generic "length converter" widget) and pairs the calculator with a written introduction, a worked example, a reference table for common values, and a short FAQ addressing the mistakes people actually make with that unit pair.

PDF and Word tools use a real conversion engine

File tools on /tools/* are different by necessity: turning a Word document into a pixel-faithful PDF, or a PDF back into an editable DOCX, requires real document-layout software, not a JavaScript snippet. Your file is uploaded over HTTPS to our conversion server, where we run LibreOffice headless for Word→PDF (the same rendering engine used inside many enterprise and government document pipelines) and pdf2docx for PDF→Word, which parses page structure and rebuilds paragraphs, tables, and images into an editable document. Processing happens in an isolated, temporary location, and the uploaded file is deleted as soon as your converted download starts — we do not keep a library of user files, and we do not train any model on what you upload.

Editorial standards

ConvertHub content is written for humans first and search engines second. We explain formulas instead of hiding them behind a black-box button, and we call out the mistakes people actually make: US versus imperial gallons, oven temperatures given in the wrong scale, "cup" meaning different volumes in different countries, and squared units (area, not length) needing the conversion factor squared, not applied once. When we add a new converter page, it gets its own intro paragraph and FAQ written for that specific pair — we do not spin up doorway pages that only swap a unit name into an identical template.

Guides are researched against primary sources — SI unit definitions, NIST reference documents, and manufacturer or standards-body specifications — rather than copied from other conversion sites. When a standard changes, or we find an error, we correct the page and note it; we do not quietly leave outdated numbers online. Dedicated converter pages exist only where we have written unique editorial context; less common unit combinations are available through category hub tools rather than as thin duplicate URLs. Our privacy stance, in short

Unit conversions never leave your device. File conversions are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS, processed in memory or temporary storage, and deleted once your download begins — we do not build a permanent archive of user documents. We use privacy-friendly, cookie-light analytics (Umami) to understand which pages are useful, and we never sell conversion data or uploaded files. How advertising works here

ConvertHub is free to use and supported by Google AdSense advertising. Ads help pay for server costs (PDF conversion requires real compute, unlike a client-side calculator) — they do not replace or crowd out the instructions, formulas, and explanations on each page. You will see a modest number of ad placements, clearly separated from the converter tool and the article text — never disguised as a download button, a "continue" link, or part of the calculator itself. If an ad ever appears to mislead or obstruct the page, please tell us and we will investigate; Google's own AdSense policies prohibit exactly that kind of placement, and so do we.
